Samsung Wallet Finally Catches Up to Apple and Google With Digital Passport Support

What’s new: Samsung Wallet has introduced digital passport support via a partnership with Clear, letting users verify their identity at over 250 TSA checkpoints across the US using just their smartphone. The feature, branded “Samsung ID with CLEAR,” brings Samsung in line with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, which have offered similar digital ID capabilities for some time. The rollout is currently limited to domestic US travel.

Who’s affected

Samsung Wallet users in the US who travel domestically will benefit most from this update, streamlining airport security by replacing the need to present a physical ID at participating TSA checkpoints. A valid US passport is required for initial setup.

What to do

  • Open Samsung Wallet and navigate to the Quick Access tab.
  • Tap + and select Digital IDs.
  • Choose Samsung ID with CLEAR and tap Get Card, then follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Note: carry your physical passport for international travel — digital passport support is currently limited to domestic US checkpoints only.
